CHAPTER VIII. HEALTH AND WELFARECHAPTER VIII. HEALTH AND WELFARE\ARTICLE 9. LOUD SOUND AMPLIFICATION SYSTEMS IN MOTOR VEHICLES

(a)      Sound Amplification System – Any radio, tape player, compact disc player, loudspeaker or other device used for the amplification of sound.

(b)     Plainly Audible – Any sound produced by a sound amplification system from within a vehicle which can be clearly heard at a distance of 50 feet or more. The measurement contained herein shall be by the auditory senses, based upon direct line of sight. Words and phrases need not be discernable and bass reverberations are included. For the purpose of this Article, the motor vehicle may be stopped, standing, parked or moving on a street, highway, alley, parking lot or driveway.

No person operating or occupying a motor vehicle on a street, highway, alley, parking lot, or driveway shall operate, or permit the operation of any sound amplification system from with the vehicle, so that sound is plainly audible at a distance of 50 feet or more from the vehicle.

The penalty for a violation of this Article shall be a fine of $25.00.
