CHAPTER VI. ELECTIONSCHAPTER VI. ELECTIONS\ARTICLE 1. CITY ELECTIONS

The election of city officials shall be conducted in all respects as provided by the laws of Kansas governing the holding of city elections.

At all city elections the polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m., unless different hours are set and publicly announced by the county election officer.

A general election of city officers shall take place on the Tuesday succeeding the first Monday in November 2021. Succeeding elections will be held every two years for all city council positions with terms set to expire during the succeeding January.

The terms for city council positions shall be four (4) years. The terms of newly elected City Council members shall commence on the first Monday in January following the election; provided, however, if the first Monday in January falls on January 1, the terms shall commence on January 2. Newly elected Council members shall be seated and may exercise the powers of office upon taking the oath of office at the first meeting of the City Council occurring on or after the commencement of the term, including any meetings rescheduled due to a holiday closing
