CHAPTER VI. ELECTIONSCHAPTER VI. ELECTIONS\ARTICLE 1. CITY ELECTIONS

The election of city officials shall be conducted in all respects as provided by the laws of Kansas governing the holding of city elections.

At all city elections the polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m., unless different hours are set and publicly announced by the county election officer.

A regular city election shall be held on the first Tuesday in April of each odd numbered year, commencing April 2011. The existing Mayor and council members shall hold office for their existing terms and until their successors have been elected and qualified as provided for in this article.

The position of Mayor shall be filled by election on the first Tuesday in April in 2011. The Mayor shall hold office for two years and until his successor is elected and qualified.

Three council member positions shall be filled by election on the first Tuesday in April in 2011. The remaining two council member positions shall be filled by election on the first Tuesday in April of 2013. The positions shall be elected for four (4) year terms. Thereafter, three and two councilmen, alternatively, shall be elected in each odd numbered year and shall hold their respective offices for a term of four years each and until their successors are elected and qualified.
